Situated in the historic centre of Capri, just steps away from the legendary "Piazzetta", the Atlantide gallery of antique/contemporary art offers an impressive selection of artworks including oil, pastel, watercolour and gouache paintings depicting the multifaceted island of Capri, antique prints, etchings, 18th and 19th century steel and copper engravings, lithographs and chromolithographs.
The gallery has an ancillary picture frame workshop with over 400 profiles. This impressive range includes frames plated with gold leaf, frames made from prestigious "Massello" cherry, frames varnished in the traditional manner with shellac and completed with bees wax. Other hand crafted items include the passepartout cut from acid free card and decorated either according to the French "lavis" technique or with threads of gold, silver or pure powder pigments.
Atlantide is the exclusive outlet on the island for the famous hand crafted frames of the "Quadreria of Sienna", and the hand crafted gold frames made by Franco Ristori of Florence - one of the very best Italian gilders and engravers. The gallery also houses a remarkable range of articles, from exquisitely beautiful jewellery boxes to traditional tambourines, hand painted by some of the most talented Neapolitan craftsmen
