Capri Marina Piccola

Just 15 minutes away from the Piazzetta, on the Southern side of the Island of Capri, lies the enchanting Bay of Marina Piccola. Visitors can reach the bay's cobbled beaches by bus, taxi or on foot, walking along either Via Mulo or Via Krupp. Buses and taxis stop in a small plaza, from where a few steps lead to the tiny Church of S. Andrea, built in the early 20th century.

From the church, the steps lead down further to the famous Scoglio delle Sirene, an impressive outcrop which effectively divides the bay in two: into Marina di Pennauro to the left and Marina di Mulo to the right. The name "Siren's rock" was first used in the 1900's, when a group of scholars identified the scoglio delle Sirene as Homer's "flowering meadow" by the sea, hypothesizing that the primitive men of Capri might easily have used the song of their women to entice passing sailors to land here.

The beach of Marina Piccola is one of Capri's most fashionable suntraps, home to a number of super-chic bathing establishments, and fabulous sea-edge restaurants and bars. In the summer months, the Scoglio delle Sirene's small landing wharf is used by boats transporting visitors between Marina Piccola and the Faraglioni rocks.
