For more than a century, the Aurora restaurant and pizzeria, owned by the D'Alessio family, has been serving visitors to Capri with the finest food and wine.

Traditional treats with a pinch of creativity

The restaurant, on the fashionable Via Fuorlovado, has gained wide spread international acclaim for its excellent Mediterranean cuisine and for its traditional Neapolitan and Caprese specialties to which Chef Franco Aversa adds that sprinkling of culinary innovation, which places the Aurora among the most exclusive restaurants on the island.

Order as starter the famous pizza all'acqua, an original old recipe of pizza, served with mozzarella and red peppers.

The Aurora restaurant was among the very first establishments to introduce a selection of quality wines to Capri and over the years has continued to seek out the very best Italian and International wines.

This passion for fine wines and the ever-expanding wine cellar of the Aurora has led to the opening of the centrally located Vino , a fabulous wine bar with an impressive exposition of wines, which, from day one, has proved to be extremely popular with locals and visitors to the island alike.

This is the restaurant to see and be seen in Capri. High energy, good food, lots of locals and repeat visitors; everyone knows owner Mia. I saw the reviews - they are quite unfair. If you want pizza stay in Naples, or you can find it in Marina Grande. This is the 'in" spot, fun, high-energy, people-watching, late-night, drinking venue. It is not expensive by Paris or London standards, but certainly on the upper end for Capri. We enjoyed the scene of "who's who" in Capri; we loved when waiters and Mia came out to sing; we enjoyed when she stopped at the table to say hello; and we enjoyed looking at all the celebrity photos who graced the restaurant.

This place is snobby, overpriced and the waiters are rude. We were invited in by a waiter as we walked past, we had walked a lot throughout the day and was ready for a drink. We questioned whether it was ok that we just had drinks, in which he said yes. Another waiter then passed us the full menu, and when we ordered just drinks his attitude changed instantly, quite frankly we were made to feel uncomfortable. Not only this, when the bill came, they stuck on a 15% service charge!!! All they did was put 2 bottles of beer on our table, and we paid them 15% of the total bill for the pleasure (or not). This place is for instagrammers, there are a lot better and more appreciative places in the beautiful island that is Capri.

Aurora has a nice atmosphere, but it's overpriced for what you get. The lobster pasta was not worth its price. The waiter recommended a glass of local white wine without showing us the wine list or mentioning the price, and it turned out to be 25 EUR for one glass. A restaurant should always show prices before recommending something. It's fine for the experience, but there are better-value options on Capri.
