In the last century, visitors to Capri came primarily for health reasons: the mild island climate was attractive to upper class men and women in northern Europe who spent the cold winter months in the Mediterranean's relative warmth, spending their days walking and reading. In fact, the island's first hotel, the Quisisana, began as a clinic.
Today, there is still the mild climate dictated by the sun and sea, but there are also spas on the island of Capri, where visitors can relax and recharge with massages, Kneipp treatments, saunas and steam rooms, and personalized diets.
All of the island's hotel spas are open to the public.
